Kansas Loosens Teacher Licensing Requirements

TOPEKA - The State Board of Education on Wednesday voted 9-1 to adopt temporary licensure regulations that go into effect next week and let some people without education degrees get licenses to teach.

Under the new guidelines, districts can hire teachers in certain subject areas who don't have education degrees but who have earned other degrees, have professional experience and meet certain criteria. More at Lawrence Journal-World, June 26, 2014.
