Delaware Student Growth Model Work

The Mid-Atlantic Comprehensive Center (MACC) and the National Comprehensive Center for Teacher Quality (TQ Center) are "providing support to the Delaware Department of Education as it works with educators and other stakeholders to add a student growth component to the Delaware Performance Appraisal System Second Edition." The Value-Added Approach

The SERVE Center at UNC-Greensboro presented a "three-part webinar series in which
researchers, state and district leaders, and practitioners discuss new approaches to using
student achievement data for accountability and evaluation. The series focuses on value-added modeling; it comes at a pivotal time as states and districts ... are searching for ways to better measure teacher quality and effectiveness." According to the SERVE Center, the series provides participants with:

1. An overview of the research on value-added modeling as a policy instrument,

2. A review of the particular challenges and opportunities value-added modeling
presents as a statistical approach to measuring teacher effectiveness, and

3. A look at one large urban school district's teacher evaluation model.
