The Arkansas Department of Education is partnering with the state's 15 educational service cooperatives, a cadre of leadership coaches and BloomBoard to deliver personalized, competency-based learning to more school administrators across the state through Leadership Quests.
Rocci Malone, the project's leadership development coach, leads a team of six leadership support coaches who facilitate individual and small-group coaching based on their region's needs.
Each cooperative selects lead principals who convene professional learning communities with peers in their region and acquire knowledge and skills to implement strategies to support teachers' professional growth, identify teacher leaders, and build a professional school culture.
The cooperatives and lead principals select one of three pathways in what the Arkansas Department of Education is calling a "Leadership Quest." Each quest includes content for three journeys.
For instance, one of the quests involves supporting teachers to improve their instruction. The three journeys relate to providing critical feedback, promoting teacher reflection, and increasing data literacy.
School administrators can pursue micro-credentials associated with each Leadership Quest through the state's online evaluation platform.
