Last year, National and State Teachers of the Year joined together to launch the #LoveTeaching campaign. The campaign recognizes that teaching is a noble profession, yet too often, stories about teaching are one-sided tails of teacher pay or teacher toil.
The goal of #LoveTeaching is to use social media and other avenues to share the positive stories about teaching: Why do you teach? What do you remember best about your favorite teacher? Why should a young person today go into teaching?
The 2015 campaign gained nearly 10,000 tweets across the country, averaging 800 tweets a day. State chiefs and SEAs were instrumental in the campaign's success. State chiefs posted blogs and videos and captured positive teaching stories in their state. We would love your help again this year!
The #LoveTeaching campaign officially began on Valentine's Day and runs through Feb. 22. Please share stories from chiefs and educators in your state about why they #LoveTeaching. A full communications toolkit is available online, including shareable images and a list of 10 ways you can take part.
This is what I tweeted: You know your child's teacher loves teaching when she calls excited about his growth but wants him to tell you. #LoveTeaching
I look forward to seeing your tweets!
