This coming Tuesday, October 9, 2012, from 2:00 to 3:30 EDT, the monthly SCEE webinar will address on-the-ground observation practices in teacher evaluation systems. SCEE members will learn about the skills and competencies observers need, how observers can be trained, and what can be done to improve inter-rater reliability.

The webinar will focus on the Washington DC Public Schools' evaluation system, IMPACT. Presenters include DC's Kim Levengood, Director of Teacher Effectiveness Strategy, and Jess Wood, Project Director of Align: TLF Training Platform, along with Dana Nerenberg, principal of Hyde-Addison Elementary School in DC.

Kim, Jess, and Dana will discuss how IMPACT helps principals use observations to clarify expectations, provide feedback, and support and retain highly effective teachers. Teacher buy-in will be discussed during the webinar.

Holly Boffy, CCSSO Educator in Residence, and Jackie Wilson, Director of the Delaware Academy for School Leadership, will contribute to this discussion by asking questions and sharing their insights about observation practices.

Participants can read this two-page overview of IMPACT in preparation for the webinar.

This webinar will be a complement to the October 3 special SCEE webinar on The Principal's Role in Evaluating Teachers.
