On September 27-28, 2012, at the Marriott City Center in Charlotte, North Carolina, SCEE will host a Topical Meeting on Educator Preparation. As a benefit of membership in SCEE, member states may send two participants to the meeting.
This meeting will be a "roll-up-your-sleeves" working session to solicit state input on recommended policies on program approval, initial licensure/certification, assessments to determine classroom and leadership readiness, and data reporting, as well as review recommended principles of what it means to be classroom- and leadership-ready. The final policies and principles will be presented to the chiefs for their adoption at the Annual Policy Forum in November. In addition to that, state members will receive an update on the InTASC teaching progressions and participate in a discussion about whether or not the ISLLC standards need to be revised.
This presents a unique opportunity for SCEE members to provide insights and feedback to the Chiefs and have valuable input to shape national policy. We are excited to offer this opportunity to SCEE members and their teams, as we value the involvement of stakeholders in the work.
As a working meeting-and in response to your interest in diving deeper into the issues that are unique to state agencies-there will be few speakers and presenters, giving teams the opportunity to confer and work together.
