Half of the states have now received waivers from at least some provisions of ESEA.
In the most recent news, two state applications for ESEA Flexibility were approved July 6 (WA, WI) and seven states have received a one-year freeze on their annual measurable objectives (AMOs) while they continue to work on their full waiver applications (AL, AK, ID, IA, KS, ME, WV).
You may access all the Flexibility applications, approval letters, and peer review notes HERE on the ED website.
In previous blogs we reported the five state applications for ESEA Flexibility that were approved June 29 (AR, MO, SD, UT, VA); eight applications that were approved May 29 (CT, DE, LA, MD, NY, NC, OH, RI); and eleven applications that were approved February 9 (CO, FL, GA, IN, KY, MA, MN, NJ, OK, TN, NM).
Seven states and the District of Columbia are still awaiting approval. (VT decided in May to not continue working on their ESEA waiver application.)
